Missouri City has just earned a spot on a list of the most livable small cities in the U.S.
Compiled by personal finance website SmartAsset, the list measured such items as home affordability, job opportunities, health care accessibility, income equality and entertainment density. Only a handful of Texas cities made the list.
Livability isn’t the only thing Missouri City is known for. Missouri City is recognized nationally as one of the Safest Cities in America by Congressional Quarterly and one of the Best Places to Live in America by CNN/Money magazine, according to the city’s website. Other accolades include:
Also in 2018, Missouri City was ranked one of the best cities for Texas families by website WalletHub. The ranking was based on five criteria:
Good for families and the environment is the 2021 accomplishment by the Missouri City Parks and Recreation Department — earning the CAPRA accreditation by the National Recreation and Park Association. The only national accreditation of park and recreation agencies, it is a measure of an agency’s overall quality of operations, management and service to the community. The Missouri City agency was only of only 21 in Texas to achieve accreditation last year.
Missouri City has a generous amount of park space for its residents — 10.5 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents, which is larger than the 9.9-acre average for cities with populations of 50,000 to 99,999 residents. Residents can enjoy 25 parks, boasting such amenities as playgrounds, basketball courts, multi-use fields, sand volleyball courts, baseball and softball fields, fishing piers and more. More than 14 miles of hiking trails wind through the city.
Of course, Sienna residents don’t even have to leave the neighborhood to enjoy many of these same amenities. Sienna boasts more than 100 acres of parks, as well as pools, fitness centers, catch-and-release lakes, sports fields, tennis courts and miles of hike-and-bike trails. But it’s nice to know that this wonderful world of outdoor fun and adventure extends into the greater community.
