The school year may be starting online but that doesn’t change the fact that many students won’t have the tools they need for a successful school year. In fact, the need is much greater given the economic impact of the pandemic.
Which is why the Sienna Women's League (SWL) is hosting their 3rd annual Back to School Drive from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8.
The drive will take place at the Academy Sports + Outdoors in Sienna, 9210 Highway 6, Missouri City. It benefits Shared Dreams, a Fort Bend ISD-affiliated program that serves FBISD school children most in need. Approximately 42 percent of all Fort Bend ISD students live in families at or below the poverty level and often come to school without supplies.
Last year, SWL collected 30 boxes of school supplies and $2,000 in cash, making the organization the top community provider of school supplies for Shared Dreams.
Supplies needed include:
Donations can be dropped off safely at the SWL tent on the day of the drive. Supplies can also be purchased via Amazon. The Women’s League has set up a wish list. These items will be shipped directly to SWL. Financial donations are also being accepted.
Please help give students the tools they need for an A+ school year.
