The first Fort Bend County Fair was held October 6-8 in 1933. The original fairground was between Richmond and Rosenberg, but it moved to its existing location on State Highway 36, just south of U.S. Highway 59 in Rosenberg in 1974. Youth education has always been the primary focus of the fair, and through the years, it has grown into one of the largest and most successful fairs in the state.
Through the fair, 40 scholarships are awarded annually to high school youth to Texas colleges and universities. For the community, it is the place to see and connect with neighbors and friends. There is a rodeo with all of our favorite events — calf scramble, barrel racing and mutton bustin’. There is a carnival with a midway full of rides and good food, and there are concerts at night. This year, you can see Steve Warnier, as well as Texas favorite, Roger Creager.
