Where does your food come from, the super market or the farmers market? If you prefer to connect with really fresh fruits and vegetables, then you definitely want to hit the Sienna Community Farmers Market on Sunday, March 25, from 1-5 p.m.
Farmers markets offer some of the freshest, tastiest produce around because they are allowed to ripen fully on the farm and brought directly to you within 24 hours of being harvested. So, no picking before the fruits and vegetables are ripe because they need to be shipped cross country to the supermarket.
In addition to colorful fresh produce, you can find meats, cheeses and eggs from animals that have been raised without hormones and antibiotics. And it feels better to support farmers and ranchers directly.
While you are browsing the stalls and filling your reusable bags, you also will discover gift items such as jewelry and apparel produced by local artisans. Even Fido can pick up a few treats. Food trucks and entertainment will make an appearance as well.
The market is held every fourth Sunday of the month. It’s fun for the entire family and a great way to connect with the community as well.
The market is a non-profit organization, so if you really enjoy the it, consider volunteering. There are many jobs that organizers could really use help with. For more information visit the new Sienna Community Farmers Market website.
