Inclusive Fun for Every Ability

November 29, 2025

With homes priced from the $200,000s to more than $1 million, Sienna is a place where a wide variety of people can find a place to call home. It’s also a place where everyone can be active, no matter their limitations.

The community’s adaptive programming is being led by Recreation Coordinator Carmen Green, who holds a degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Grambling State University.

“Creating inclusive opportunities is something I’m truly passionate about,” she said. “Our goal with these programs is to create inclusive, accessible recreation opportunities for residents of all abilities.”

Green said feedback from Sienna residents helped spur adaptive programming, which launched this year. Events such as S’mores Under the Stars and an Adaptive Movie Night had sensory corners, a designated calming space to support people who may become overstimulated during events. Participants were able to take a break, self-soothe, and re-engage at their own pace. An Adaptive Dance Party invited residents with limited mobility to have fun and express themselves while developing social and motor skills in a healthy, safe place.

“Each of these events focused on connection, creativity, and comfort for participants and their families,” Green said.

She also has been working with Risher Fitness Management, which manages Sienna’s fitness centers, to introduce fitness classes such as Chair Chi, an Easy Movement Stretch & Tone, and the Sienna Stretch & Stroll, which ends with a brief stroll down the Sienna Pavilion boardwalk.

“These classes are designed to support mobility, balance, and gentle physical activity in an inclusive environment,” Green said.

Children of all abilities will also be able to play at Sienna Community Park, a 6-acre space that will include eight pickleball courts and parking in its first phase and a large inclusive playground — Sienna’s first — in its second phase, expected to open in late 2026. The Associations have worked with Lonestar Recreation and Landscape Structures to develop a park with features that accommodate children of all abilities.

In Sienna, recreation isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s for every neighbor, every family, and every ability level. And with more adaptive programming on the horizon, Sienna is strengthening its reputation as a community where everyone can participate, connect, and thrive.
