More than 25 years into the development of Sienna, and Johnson Development is still innovating —introducing a feature never before seen at one of the community’s clubhouses: an onsite restaurant.
Texas Biergarten at Sienna Oaks is now open at the new Sienna Oaks amenity center, bringing coffee, pastries, and grab-and-go lunch items in the morning and beers on tap, wine, sandwiches, pizza and more in the evenings.
The new restaurant, at 1515 Golden View Drive, is a new concept for Tom and Laura Abraham, owners of the original Texas Biergarten at 6302 Highway 6 in Missouri City. It is open 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
“I’ve always wanted to have a space in Sienna,” said Laura, who moved to Sienna 16 years ago. “Johnson Development has made it incredibly inviting for us. It’s a great opportunity for us to start a brand-new concept, keeping it trendy and interesting.”
The Abrahams are partnering with Bean Here Coffee — also located in Sienna — for its morning service. The lunch and dinner menu includes appetizers such as bruschetta with seasonal toppings and hummus and whipped feta served with bread and vegetables. Salad choices include a Caesar salad with roasted tomatoes to a Greek panzanella salad.
The grand opening menu includes nearly a dozen sandwiches and wraps, including the vegetarian Caprese Sandwich made with mozzarella, tomato, arugula and Italian salsa verde on a Slow Dough Bakery focaccia. Pizzas range from a traditional pepperoni pizza to the more adventurous Pistachio Pesto Pie, with whipped ricotta, pistachio pesto base and mozzarella.
“The menu reflects some of the popular items from Texas Biergarten like the soft pretzel, but we also wanted to create new dishes for this Sienna restaurant,” Laura said.
Because Laura is gluten-free, the menu offers several gluten-free options, including a cauliflower pizza crust.
Desserts include Nutella triple chocolate brownies, hand-dipped Blue Bell ice cream, milk shakes, homemade cookies and the Sienna Split, an old-fashioned banana split. Wine and beer — including several on tap — are available.
“We will also have special events in the near future, including Friday burger nights, Steak and Potato Saturdays and brunch on Sundays,” Laura said.
The Sienna Oaks restaurant is counter-service, with guests welcome to take their orders home or enjoy indoor and outdoor seating at the community center. Occupancy is around 100, Laura said. All food is cooked onsite.
Texas Biergarten opened in 2018, inspired by Laura’s catering business serving Sienna residents and teachers and staff at Scanlan Oaks Elementary, where Laura taught third grade before opening the family restaurant.
Besides the restaurant, the clubhouse at the Sienna Oaks Amenity Center features a tween hangout with study space, board games, video games, pool, foosball, ping pong and meeting space. Outside is a playground, basketball court, event lawn and lap pool.
Sienna Oaks Amenity Center is one of three amenity complexes open in the 10,800-acre community. Sawmill Lake Club features a social bar, fitness center, ballroom, fire pit, playground, splash pad, a pool and access to the Sawmill Event Pavilion and beach club.
Club Sienna, the first amenity complex to open in Sienna, offers the iconic bucket pool, water slides, lap swimming, a large playground, sand volleyball court and courts for tennis and pickleball. Concerts and other community events are held at the lakeside amphitheater. Club Sienna is also home to onsite HOA staff.
