New to Ronald Thornton Middle School? Yes. New to Sienna? No.
That’s because Principal Jeanne Sniffin is just changing schools, leaving behind Sienna Crossing Elementary to lead Sienna Plantation’s newest middle school, slated to open in 2018.
Sniffin, who has more than 20 years experience in education, received her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision degree from the University of Houston and her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. She also earned a REEP Business Fellowship for School Leaders certificate from Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business.
Fort Bend Independent School District officially broke ground on Thornton last September. It will be located on a 47-acre parcel within Sienna, adjacent to the new Donald Leonetti Elementary School, which opens this August. Leonetti Elementary and Scanlan Oaks Elementary will feed into the new middle school, which will house 1,200 students.
Thornton will be Sienna’s second middle school, bringing the total number of on-site schools up to seven. Already open are three elementary schools, one middle school and a high school, all of which are lauded for academics and extra-curricular achievements.
