Registration has opened for a variety of fitness and sports summer camps hosted by the Sienna Plantation homeowners association in partnership with Baines Middle School.
The Longhorn Camps begin June 6 and will focus on basic fitness, conditioning and sports skills. Weekly sessions will be held at the school, 9000 Sienna Ranch Road, and are open to residents and non-residents. Sienna Plantation residents will receive preferential pricing.
Two levels of conditioning camps are available for boys and girls entering seventh and eighth grades. Strength camps lasting 45 minutes will teach the fundamentals of weight training. Boot Camp, a one-hour full-conditioning camp, challenges teens through plyometric training, tire drills, core work and more. Both camps start at 10 a.m. and take place June 6 to July 28. Strength Camp is $60 and Boot Camp is $72 per camper, per week. A summer pass is available for $480.
A series of Fitness and Fun camps will get kids moving with daily drills focused on agility, coordination and balance. Basic weight room exercises will be introduced, and the final 30-45 minutes of each day will be devoted to organized sports activities. Camps are for boys and girls entering grades three through eight and take place 9 a.m. to noon, June 13 through July 28. The cost is $94.80 per week.
Kids and teens desiring to learn a new sport or hone their skills for next season can participate in lacrosse, volleyball and football camps.
A New Panther Lacrosse Skill Camp will introduce children to the game from 6:30 to 8 p.m., June 21-23. The $100 camp is for elementary and middle school students up to grade seven.
Aspiring to advanced volleyball players have four camps to choose from. Two Back to the Basics camps will be offered July 25-28. Camps are designed to teach basics and refine skills. A fourth through sixth grade camp takes place from 9 a.m. to noon. A camp for seventh and eighth grade students takes place from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Both camps are $125.
Advanced volleyball skills camps will be offered Aug. 1-4. A competition camp for grades six through eight will help players up their game from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $125. A team camp from 1 to 3 p.m. and priced at $75 will prepare middle school students for fall try-outs.
Future Longhorn football players will have fun learning the game and developing footwork, agility and proper form at a camp for players entering first through fifth grades, Aug. 1-4. From Aug. 8-11, players in grades six to eight will gain a better understanding of the game through pre-game warm ups and drills covering blocking, footwork and tackling formations. Both camps take place from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $150.
