Kids can stay fit, learn to play a new sport or hone their skills for next season at sports and fitness camps hosted by the Sienna homeowners association.
The association is hosting several Longhorn Camps in partnership with Baines Middle School. Two camps will focus on strength and conditioning, one on football and another on basketball. All camps will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the school, 9000 Sienna Ranch Road, and are open to residents and non-residents.
Two weekly Longhorn fitness camps will provide exercise and strength training guidance. The Fitness & Fun Camp is designed for boys and girls entering the fourth through eighth grades. Campers will engage in activities focusing on agility, footwork, balance and coordination, as well as basic weight room exercises. An advanced strength training and conditioning class — covering plyometric workouts, resistance running, weight training and nutrition — is offered to middle school students only. Both camps offer weekly sessions from July 6-30 for $69 per camper, per week.
The Longhorn Football Camp will help boys and girls entering grades six through eight increase their speed, agility, footwork and awareness. Campers will be introduced to formations and plays and work on passing, catching and blocking. The camp is Aug. 3-6 and cost is $125 per resident and $150 per non-resident.
Basketball enthusiasts can work on their jump shots at the Longhorn Basketball Camp July 27-30. Campers will participate in individual drills and team-oriented training to increase the skills necessary to succeed. Boys and girls entering sixth through eighth grades can participate and cost is $125 per resident and $150 per non-resident.
