Children can become artists, musicians, engineers and superheroes at a variety of summer camps to be held at Sienna Plantation.
Camps designed by Kidventure and Camp Einstein will be offered, in addition to those devoted to Legos, art and music. They will take place at Club Sienna, 9600 Scanlan Trace, and are open to both residents and non-residents. Residents will receive preferential pricing.
Summer Quest 2016 is the theme of this year’s Kidventure camp, which will allow children, ages 6 to 12, to activate their inner superheroes. A different, themed adventure will take place each week from June 6 to Aug. 12. Cost for the basic camp, slated for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. is $220 a week. Pre-camp and post-camp times of 7-8:45 a.m. and 3:45-6 p.m., respectively, are available for an additional $30 per week each. Aspiring engineers, ages 4 to 7, will design and build catapults, roller coasters and race cars while developing engineering and science skills at the popular Camp Einstein. There will be two sessions offered, June 20-24 and July 18-22. Both camps take place from 1-4 p.m. and cost $180 each.
Three Lego camps, divided by age and ability level, will take place Aug. 1-5.
Engineering, math, creative problem solving and critical thinking skills will be learned while using Legos to construct a variety of interesting projects. Lego Mania and Lego Designer camps for children ages 4 to 7 are from 1-3 p.m. The Lego Expert camp is from 3-5 p.m. for children ages 8 to 12. Each camp is $117.60.
Science and art will combine at a Fun Academy for 5- to 7-year olds, 1-3 p.m. June 13-17. Children will utilize Play-Doh and Hot Wheels to explore science topics such as dinosaurs, volcanoes, and the solar system. Cost is $117.60.
Music and art camps also are available. Kindergarten- through second-grade students currently taking music lessons or interested in learning can join Freddie the Frog and friends on a musical journey exploring tempo, pitch, rhythm and more in a four-day camp, 9 a.m. to noon, July 12-15. Another music camp for children in third through fifth grades will explore the basics of reading and writing music, as well as moving to and creating music with instruments, sticks and buckets. The camp will be held 1-4 p.m. Both camps are $180 per camper.
A three-day art camp takes place from 1-3 p.m., June 27-29 for elementary school students up to the fifth grade. Students will create a number of drawings and sculptures using different media. Cost is $42.
Children of a literary turn of mind will be able to turn ideas into comic strips, scrapbooks and other creations at a writing camp for children ages 6 to 12. Writing will be done with voice in all genres. The camp is from 3-5 p.m. June 13-17. The cost is $117.60
