September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Every year 15,780 kids aged 0-19 are diagnosed with cancer in this country. One in 285 children are diagnosed with some form of cancer before their 20th birthday each year. Every three minutes, a family hears the awful news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer.
And an even more frightful statistic — 20 percent of children with cancer do not survive.
Fortunately, there are many wonderful organizations helping families fight and win the battle with cancer. A Shelter for Cancer Families (ASCF) is one of them, and they’ve teamed up with HEARTS OF GOLD to shine a light on this cause. Sienna is in close proximity to the Texas Medical Center, and it’s a community full of health care workers who care for these special kids. No wonder so many residents here in Sienna support ASCF and HEARTS OF GOLD by displaying a gold sign in their yard. There are several ways you can help with this fight, so please visit to learn more.
