College Drop-Off
August 25, 2021

It might just be my age, but for the past two weeks most of the social media posts I’ve seen are of college freshman moving away for the first time.

I’ve seen so many great pictures of beautifully decorated dorm rooms, bid days for sororities and fraternities, and a few tearful Moms. I myself am a brand new emptynester. We drove my youngest son eight hours away to his new home in Stillwater on the campus of Oklahoma State University recently. It was bittersweet for sure. It was harder on me than it was this time last year when we took his older brother to College Station. I guess this is because of the distance, or many because he is the youngest and this is a new, unknown season.

Regardless, I am very glad I have the community of friends and neighbors around me that I do. I refuse to be sad when both my boys are so happy. I keep hearing there is this whole new world waiting for me.  Since my new world will include far less laundry, it has to be a good thing overall.
