RPHS 2021 Graduation
July 01, 2021

We all know 2020/2021 was a challenge for students and teachers all over our country and the world. The seniors were more than ready to graduate and be done.

Fort Bend ISD did a good job with the graduation ceremonies, in my opinion. I was disappointed at first when I was told that Ridge Point was assigned the 8 a.m. time slot. It turned out to be a good thing. For 8 days in a row, the district held two graduation ceremonies a day outdoors — one at 8 a.m. and the other at 8 p.m. Ours was at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at Hall Stadium. They had a rain out date scheduled, but we hoped it would not be needed, and it was not. It was very organized, parking was not a problem and it was not even too hot due to some well-timed clouds. They did live stream the ceremony for family members who could not be there. The amazing part — even with more than 700 students, the ceremony was over in less than 2 hours.

The students who spoke were adorable. They worked so hard during such a difficult time.  They reminded us that they started high school during Harvey and they spent most of their senior year all online. It was not the four years they had expected, and yet they excelled and made all of us parents very proud. I’m thankful to FBISD for a great graduation experience for these kids and their families.
