The superintendent of Fort Bend ISD recently announced his resignation effective by December 2021. Charles Dupre has been with the district since 2013. The FBISD Board of Directors had voted to extend his contract just 17 days prior to his resignation, but several members of the board were replaced in the November 3rd election. Dr. Dupre stated that he plans to remain for a year in the hopes that the right and qualified candidate is found. He assured parents that he will make this transition as smooth as possible and that he remains committed to the students of our county. Reaction to his resignation has been mixed. Even those who have not agreed with all of Dr. Dupre’s decisions during this pandemic agree that no superintendent could make all parents happy during these unprecedented times. Our district is very large and these are big shoes to fill, but most agree that if a vaccine is available soon, the next superintendent will not have the same challenges Dr. Dupre had this year and that is a good thing.
