Greater Houston COVID-19 Recovery Fund
August 30, 2020

The Greater Houston COVID-19 Recovery Fund is a joint effort by the Greater Houston Community Foundation and the United Way of Houston. It has grown to $15.5 million thanks to some very generous donors, corporations and foundations. One of the distressing things about this virus is that studies have shown it to disproportionately affect certain zip codes in the Houston area. They think this is due to a larger percentage of households living in poverty in certain areas, but regardless of why, people need help. In households where people struggle daily to make ends meet, this pandemic brings unprecedented financial hardship. As long as schools remain closed, the demand for childcare and emergency food assistance will increase exponentially. The Recovery Fund has a task force committed to helping those who need it most. They are working with local non-profits to ensure this happens.
