Prior to the Coronavirus, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital was normally around 90% full but during the stay at home order they were just 50%-60% full. Pre Covid- 19 they did about 1,110 outpatient & inpatient surgeries each month but have only been doing about 65% of those since the virus. CHI St. Lukes Sugar Land Hospital has seen a 50% decline in emergency room visits and a 30% decline in hospital admissions. The belief is that lots of patients have been afraid to go to the hospital for fear of catching the virus. Chris Siebenaler, CEO of Methodist Sugar Land, has stated that the hospital is safe and they want people to have confidence in seeking medical attention when needed. Methodist and other area hospitals like St. Lukes have put measures in place that they want the public to know about. There are Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 wings to mitigate the virus spread. There are no visitor policies, masks are required, employees are being screened daily and furniture has been rearranged for social distancing. I hope people are reading about this and will not continue to put off seeking medical attention. We are fortunate to live close to so many top notch hospitals.
